December Run

Ballast Point Victory at Sea 10%
Found at Albertson’s in San Diego. Roasted coffee and chocolate waft off this black beer with a dense, tan, persistent head. Rich milk and dark chocolate creaminess hit you on the first sip followed by light vanilla flavor and sweetness, and then a deep roasted/charred malt flavor. Beautiful, well balanced bitterness follows up, probably both from hops and from the dark roasted malt. Even through this heaviness, there’s a fresh grain husk flavor that comes through and makes what could be an over the top dark beer surprisingly refreshing. It says 10% ABV, but it sure doesn’t show it and goes down smooth as silk. Comparable to Old Rasputin with a coffee/vanilla flavor thrown in. (this is one of the big bottles, broke the bank @ $90 for a 12 bottle case!!!)

Anchor Steam Christmas
Ale 5.5%
The brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer are proud to announce the release of our thirty-sixth annual “Christmas Ale.” Every year since 1975 the brewers at Anchor have brewed a distinctive and unique “Christmas Ale,” which is available from early November to mid-January. The Ale’s recipe is different every year—as is the tree on the label—but the intent with which we offer it remains the same: joy and celebration of the newness of life. Since ancient times, trees have symbolized the winter solstice when the earth, with its seasons, appears born anew.

Terrapin Moo-Hoo
6%
The Terrapin “Moo-Hoo” Winter Seasonal Chocolate Milk Stout proudly uses cocoa nibs and shells from Olive and Sinclair Chocolate Company to give this beer its great taste!

River Horse Oatmeal Milk Stout 6.7%
Winter seasonal stout from NJ, with little to no information on the internet. So, um, I guess you will just have to drink it and find out for yourself.

Williamsburg Springhouse Ale 9.4%
Springhouse is an aged Belgium Saison (Farmhouse Ale). 9.4% ABV, it pours gold-amber, is will carbonated but has a small to non existent head, and has a sweet fruity aroma with apples, green grapes and apricots the dominant taste. this is an interesting ale that deserves your attention. (this is the other big bottle)

Monk’s Ale 4.7%
Brewed by real Monks! Currently, Abbey of Christ in the Desert is the only benedictine monastery to brew beer in the United States. The beer is along the lines of the beers Trappist breweries produce for the monks themselves to drink but don’t sell commercially (such as Westmalle Extra and Chimay Doree).

Cigar City Madura Brown 5.5%
A Northern English style brown ale with some American affections. Maduro is higher in alcohol then the common English brown ale and features flaked oats in the malt bill which imparts a sliky body and works to mesh the roasted, toasted and chocolate components together in Maduro’s complex malt profile. The result is a remarkably full flavored yet approachable and sessionable brown ale.

Abner Weed Amber Ale
5.5%%
Our beautiful Amber named Abner is a session brew dedicated to California State Senator Abner Weed, founder of the town in which we craft our delicious brews. The red colored ale has a stable, tan head, and an aroma of mild hops with overtones of carmel and roasted malt. This rich ale starts sweet and malty, then progresses into a light bitter flavor. Slightly thick on the palate, our Amber at 5.5% ABV has a balanced bitterness resulting from a combination of Chinook and Cascade hops. It ends clean with a light lingering bitterness at 43 IBUs. We raise our glasses in celebration to our town Weed!"

Furthermore Proper
4.5%
This elegant, light-bodied and "proper" English Ale is fairly light, with subtle toasty notes and a slight sweetness garnered from a touch of Munich and Caramel Malts. 15.5 IBUs (bitterness units) is enough to sharpen the mouthfeel without coming across as bitter. The hop bill is at its core, English—Kent Golding being the dominant player but we've employed “Brewer's License” and thrown in some very non-English Tettnang hops—because it tastes good.

Sprecher Black Bavarian
5.8%
This intensely dark Kulmbacher style lager has a superb malt complexity with the distinctive flavors and aromas of coffee, caramel and chocolate. A renowned smoothness and a creamy, tan head make it a world champion.

Coronado Brewing Company Idiot IPA 8.5%
The CBC Idiot IPA is an all natural India Pale Ale. A big beer with an 8.5% ABV and brewed with over 3 pounds of hops per barrel. Watch out, this unfiltered "San Diego IPA" has been known to reduce even the most intelligent to a blithering "idiot".
